| Stuart M Brent has experimented with various themes and directions in noise ever since first dabbling with audio interpretations of data files and basic tracker software in high school. Solo he has created noise under the monikers The Alpha Gamma Deathray Squadron and cyg. AGDS’ only release was the maximalistic venture Voices, which charted at #1 on WKDU and was rejected by NPR stating that playing it between segments would only confuse listeners. As cyg, he has released many albums on his own record label Hajota Records, ranging from ambient drone to data noise to a theme album, The Secret Lives of Machines. As well as solo work, he also plays in the noise duo MOTHER, playing many shows at art and noise gigs around Philadelphia, focusing on making their sound to be as full and complex as needed to encapsulate the audience (earplugs provided.) He is flattered by the effect that his noise art can bring upon a person, even when it is a negative effect. The other half of MOTHER, Matt Sanchez / MANeater, gave Brent his highest compliment when he told him that his latest album had given him nightmares when he fell asleep to it. Brent lives in Philadelphia and is self-employed as a serigraphist. |
